This report aims to provide indicators of Indigenous disadvantage that are of relevance to all governments and Indigenous stakeholders, and that can demonstrate the impact of program and policy intervention. Similarly to previous reports, the focus is on those areas in which governments have the greatest capacity to change things for the better in the short and long term.

This report presents data on the heath and welfare of Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as information about their socioeconomic circumstances. Where possible, data are provided on changes in the circumstances of Indigenous people over time, as well as on the differences between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
